Open- source, self-replicating, rapid-prototyping powered by the elements is trending the 3D sphere. Recycled filament saves on otherwise expensive materials, allowing for more prototypes to be produced. Waste plastic extruders (referred to as RecycleBots) actually recycle once more the byproduct of the already recycled filament to harvest the polymer. In the same way that recycling bottles and cans ultimately lowers greenhouse gas emissions, so too does recycled filament by lessening the waste produced from custom plastic parts.
