Ready for your daily dose of cuteness? Tez Gilmar can officially win our dad of the day award for his inspired innovation when making his daughters rocking horse. If you haven’t guessed from the above image yet, the rocking horse design is based on the speeder bike from the iconic star wars films, and of course it was made with 3D printing.
When creating the rocking speeder one of Tez’s primary concerns was of course safety for his daughters so he made sure that the build was sturdy, stating that “My first consideration was strength and stability for the safety of the little ones, as though this project is for my 1y/o, I also have a 5y/o who no doubt will want a turn,’ he explains. ‘The need to be strong enough to handle a beating led me to the first part of my design, a rigid backbone with a solid plywood top for the seat platform. This gave me a good foundation for things like the handles and outrigger to mount from, and somewhere to fix the 3D printed hull shell.”
The design also has electrical components, included are flashing lights and sound effects to mimic the movie, which only increases the amount of fun the kids can have on it. Lucky for us Tez has been kind enough to share all of his designs for the chair online for us here. You can see a video below along with the finished product. Babies not included.
